After being held captive on an Emirates flight for 20 hours, we finally landed and got our new boarding passes for the next connection to Dublin.. And we now have 5 hours to kill in Dubai..to stretch our legs, shower, breathe fresh air, eat some fabulous curry, wander through the airport shops...
Straight to the Emirates Business Lounge for a long overdue shower and a free champagne. Yes, it's still breakfast time, but after the flight we've just endured, I reckon one won't hurt.
I was hoping to upload a photo of Dubai, but it's so sandy today, the visibility is minimal.even from the plane landing webcam, visibility was poor. People watching is great tho, so I'll try to covertly take a few photos to upload for you.
Off to Dublin we go, on our very last leg of this epic journey from the Emerald City to the Emerald Isle. We have had to reschedule our onward flight, car rental and tonight accommodation, but in the grand scheme of things, it is just a little inconvenience. There were people on our flight, throwing their boarding passes back at the Emirates ground staff, raised voices and demands for upgrades for the inconvenience... Is that really what travel is about? How on earth can it be the ground staffs fault in Dubai that our plane needed maintenance in Brisbane before takeoff? Go with the flow people, just relax......
Hugo and I quietly got our boarding passes and headed on to the lounge for some quiet time away from the whinging. Bloody great idea.. I'm now feeling like a million dollars, after a plate of curry, a coffee, and a shower. Time to kiss a camel or too.

And it's just day 1. Looking forward to tomorrow's instalment.
