County Meath.

Awoke early and went for a long brisk walk this morning, along the river Boyne into Drogheda town.

Coffee, then home to prepare for a days sightseeing. We went out for coffee as we couldn't find the milk this morning, turns out their fridge are drawers. Check out the photo. I would never in my life thought there was such a thing!

We came, we saw, we conquered! Today we visited Passage tombs at Knowth, Newgrange and the Hill of Tara. Trim Castle and Benict Abbey ruins. We saw Market Cross and a fantastic cemetery at Kells. We walked about St Patricks Church in Trim, and had the most tastyTomato Soup for lunch at Navan.  I'm sure We walked over 20 thousand steps today, which is a pretty good effort given that we only arrived here at 10.30pm yesterday. Trim Castle was incredible, it was the castle they used all throughout Braveheart, using different angles of the hotel to create different scenes. The stand out of the day tho, was a guide at Knowth. She was a 68 year old Irish woman with a twinkle in her eye and was the most fantastic story teller. The site is an incredible archeological feature but her wit and gift of the gab made it so much more fun.

No such thing as jet lag allowance for Hugo, we drove all over the County, walked all day and have just now returned to the BnB at 10pm, after a fantastic Lebanese meal in town.

We would have been earlier but we got stuck in the cemetery in Kells, blocked in by cars and it took a great deal of manoeuvring through some very tight places to free ourselves. Sorry Mrs Smith of Killenmissen who died in 1984, for maybe running over your toes. 😄 it was an accident.

Abbey Ruins. We could climb all over this, and we were the only people there.
The fridge - two drawers!
Trim Castle.
Some of the biggest grave I've ever seen! I could only fit half of it in the photo. There was a line of these, all the same family. Rooney's. amazing.

Off to Tara Mine tomorrow. K
