Travel warning for the UK

Well, I awake this morning to see an upgraded warning for travel to the UK and Europe.  A terrorist attack in this area is now deemed to be "highly likely"

Am I concerned? Yes? Am I worried? Yes, a little... But will it stop me? No.

I will not let these people hold my life at ransom. I will not let these extremists decide my fate. In saying that I will also not tempt fate. I won't go into areas known to have a high probability for danger. I will be vigilant, street smart and aware.. But I refuse to sit at home, twiddling my fingers,  on the off chance some madman has decided to strap on a kilo or two of explosives.

To think that it would never happen in Australia is foolish, and if we all think like that, there would be no footy grand finals, no Melbourne Cup Days, no Anzac ceremonies or Australia Day commemorations for fear of attack.

We are given just one chance at life, and I am now determined to live it by ticking off the things on my bucket list.. It just so happens a road trip round Ireland is one of the adventures on my list.

So off we go, in a week or two, Hugo and I will wing our way to Dublin, Belfast, and London, stopping at pubs, cafés and parks,  meeting and mixing with the locals. If in this time, we get blown to pieces but some madman, well so be it. Nothing I can do about that, but know for sure we will have gone down laughing and enjoying what the world has to offer. I could just as easily get run over at home, any winter,  by a van towing Victorian.

Don't let your dreams to travel to experience other cultures and lifestyles ever be put off by the decisions and choices of other people. Get out there. Laugh, love, live... And try bloody hard to come home with all your limbs. :)
